Shooting brakes represent the IMO worst thing a car manufacturer could possibly do. To put style over substance. Horribly pretentious wagon looks, next to no proper practicality. What is wrong with a decent hatchback as a "family unit" for two humans + two penguins anyway? Better and cheaper. Shooting brakes are just horribly overpriced fashion statements, and therefore I can do without them.

There's not a single two-door hatch on the market that would be remotely comfortable for the dogs. Also, to me, a shooting brake is just a two door hatch with a longroof.

Two door Shooting Brakes are not exactly more comfortable for dogs than two door hatches. Both require you to fold down the rear seats if you want to transport your animal of choice in some degree of comfort.

when the only two choices for a two door hatch are the 500 and the Cooper - neither of which can fit a Greyhound comfortably - much less a Greyhound and her pet Border Collie - a shooting brake is a pretty good proposition
